Keeping the Bond Alive

Written By Life Link

ICPO is engaged in supporting vulnerable children with incarcerated mothers across various prisons in Rwanda. On May 11, 2023, ICPO organized a special activity where children staying with adoptive families were given the opportunity to visit their mothers in prison, fostering and preserving their vital connection.

Through its partnership with RGB, ICPO ensures that these visits extend beyond Nyamagabe prison, encompassing multiple correctional facilities throughout the country. By facilitating supervised visits, ICPO enables the children to spend quality time with their incarcerated mothers in a safe and supportive environment, regardless of the prison location.

This particular activity on May 11, 2023, exemplified ICPO's commitment to promoting the rights and welfare of these children, allowing them to maintain a strong bond with their mothers during their time of separation. By coordinating these visits, ICPO contributes to the emotional well-being of both the children and their incarcerated mothers, while also emphasizing the significance of family connections in the rehabilitation process.

ICPO's collaboration with RGB underscores the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in addressing the unique needs of vulnerable children affected by parental incarceration. Through their collective efforts, ICPO and RGB continue to advocate for the rights of these children, provide support to the incarcerated mothers, and work towards their successful reintegration into society upon release.
